Dolphins in Tampa Bay

Dolphins are some of the smartest animals out there, and we're lucky enough to have some local to the Tampa Bay area! These majestic creatures are amazing up close and personal. If you've never a dolphin in close proximity, I highly recommend seaking one out on your own or finding a local cruise.

The Florida Aquarium offers one such cruise that lasts 75 minutes, and they boast a 90% success rate of seeing an actual dolphin. The tour is available daily at 1:00 and 2:30 PM.

Lesser know, but potentially more rewarding, is along the waterfront of Vinoy Park in downtown St. Pete. I'd suggest arriving an hour or so before sunset, and look in the water about 10 - 20 meters from the seawall, facing were the old pier used to be.

Enjoy the dolphins!

ST PETE TIPS

#1

Stay local and small. The best spots are where the locals dine and play.

#2

Avoid chains like Subway, McD, and Wendy's. Luckily they aren't prevelant downtown.

#3

Go to a beach. They are amazing!
